How to Deliver Fully Compliant Healthcare to Pupils with Medical Needs – Safe practices for first-aiders and non-medical staff who provide basic healthcare to pupils

Course Aim

This training allows first aiders, and non-medical staff providing basic healthcare and administering medicines to pupils, to fully understand the latest guidelines and advice relating to their role. The course will provide a clear understanding of key relevant healthcare issues and the essential legal compliance currently required in schools.

The day is suitable for colleagues working in independent day and boarding settings, as well as in state schools (we do advise any practicing nurses attend our Gold Standard Nursing course).

 

 

Key learning objectives include:

  • Adhering to the latest Government Statutory Guidance relevant to your role
  • Ensuring your record-keeping is watertight, with sample forms to use in your school
  • Making sure your medicines policy is safe, including POM and OTC medicines
  • Being clear on who is responsible for what
  • Dealing with complementary medicines and medicines brought from home
  • Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Anaphylaxis, Cardiac conditions – Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs) to use in school
  • Spotting the warning signs of a range of infectious diseases
  • Effective signposting for common mental health problems, including eating disorders and self harm
