Neurodiversity Unpacked: Foundational knowledge and key skills for supporting neurodivergent young people in school
Course Aim
This course has been specially designed to significantly deepen colleague’s understanding of neurodivergent students in their schools, focusing on ADHD and ASC. The neurodiversity unpacked course is suitable for a wide range of staff including SEND staff, inclusion leads, teaching & pastoral staff and school nurses.
The session will include a clear and easy to understand working definition of Level 1 Autism (previously referred to as ‘high functioning’ or autism without intellectual impairment) and ADHD along with a framework to consider often invisible executive functioning difficulties that can intensify the challenges of adolescence for young neurodivergent young people. The day will also explore how mental health is commonly affected in neurodivergent young people and effective methods of support.
This workshop will also offer a period of extended Q&A and enable practitioners to bring “live” material they may wish to explore.
