Physical Assessment Skills Course Aim

This practical training course is designed to teach, revise or improve School Nurses physical examination skills. The day will involve accurately assessing and examining students with a variety of commonly presenting issues, including respiratory, ENT, abdominal and musculoskeletal.
Colleagues attending will be guided through the gold standard approach in undertaking a physical exam, followed by a hands-on practical skills session. Please note you will be expected to examine each other (through clothing!).

On the day, please bring equipment such as stethoscopes and otoscopes wherever possible.
This training is a fantastic refresher for experienced colleagues alongside those who are just beginning.

Key learning objectives include:
* Undertaking thorough physical examinations accurately, effectively and with confidence
* Spotting signs and symptoms beyond school nurse scope, i.e. conditions for escalation
* Practical hands-on sessions – with each other! Please wear appropriate clothing for access to chests/ necks etc
