School Attendance

School Attendance – A Practical Training Event to Ensure Compliance with the DfE Guidelines from Sept 2023

Course Aim

The DFE guidance ‘Working together to improve school attendance’ that was published in May 2022 applies across the whole compulsory education sector. The guidance will become statutory at some point from September 2023.  Expectations have been placed upon Schools, Governing Bodies and Trust Boards as well as Local Authorities. Local Authorities will be expected to work more closely with ALL schools including those from the independent sector, and offer core services free of charge going forward.

This practical training course has been specifically designed for colleagues that lead strategically on attendance across their setting, incl. Deputy Heads, Vice Principals, Assistant Heads and Attendance Managers.  Colleagues will be equipped with skills to significantly improve the strategic and operational systems that impact on attendance levels and will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of tried and tested strategies.

Key learning objectives include:

  • Understanding the ethos and principles behind the DFE guidance
  • Effectively implementing the new guidance in your setting and ensuring full compliance
  • Using data to generate reports, inform practice and facilitate early intervention
  • Managing attendance and reducing absence – creating watertight systems and processes
  • Tried and tested methods for dealing with different types of absence

Course fees are £259 + VAT per person.  Discounts available for 2+ colleagues attending

The event is finished.
