Smoking Cessation and Vaping Management – Delivering competent, confident and cohesive advice and support to pupils
This interactive training course is packed with practical information to equip Nurses with the skills to engage, encourage and support pupils to quit smoking, using evidence based approaches to practice. The day will also enable Nurses to understand current national guidance on vaping and smoking. The day focuses on areas that relate specifically to children and young people, and allows participants to develop a consistent approach for handling smoking cessation and vaping management conversations with pupils.

❖ Understanding national guidance on vaping and developing a consistent approach with young people
❖ How to explain the effects of smoking by focusing on areas most likely to have an impact on young people
❖ Understanding nicotine addiction and the application of behaviour-change models to support quitting
❖ Nicotine Replacement Therapy – products, uses and prescribing in a school environment
❖ Managing the practical application and potential challenges of carbon monoxide monitoring in school
❖ Understanding the pros and cons of electronic cigarettes
❖ Raising awareness of young people’s use of tobacco in other forms
❖ Developing highly effective techniques for brief interventions with young people
