Successfully supporting and responding to traumatised young people: An essential briefing for pastoral staff
This 2-hour webinar specifically focuses on caring for pupils who have been through traumatic experiences and is suitable for Senior Leaders, Pastoral and Nursing Staff.
Students may have experienced significant distress, trauma or bereavement either as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic or for entirely different reasons. However current research is highlighting that for some pupils, returning back to school may be significantly stressful and for some, it will trigger a trauma response.
This webinar is designed to equip pastoral staff with specialist knowledge on how to recognise and understand trauma in young people – and what they can do to help within the remits of their role.
Drawing on 28 years CAMHS experience, our expert Zoe Dale will guide participants through this topic so that they can gain more understanding and feel better equipped at how to respond in a variety of ways.
Key Learning objectives include:
- The picture of trauma for young people – possible symptoms and scenarios
- Understanding how to talk effectively to young people in distress
- Ready-to-go risk assessment tools for traumatised and distressed students
- Spotting red flags – when to be concerned, and what to do next
There will also be an opportunity for questions at the end. If you are not able to make the specified time slot and date, you can still pay for your place and receive the full recording afterwards.
Course fees are £75+VAT.
