
Vaping and Smoking Management in Educational Settings – Delivering competent, confident advice and support to pupils
Course Aim
This training course is packed with information and advice to demystify the complex issue of vaping and young people. It will equip Nurses with the knowledge and confidence to address vaping with pupils, enabling them to take a measured approach to a new and growing trend. With a focus specifically on children and young people, the day will share the latest national guidance on both vaping and smoking, enabling Nurses to develop a consistent approach to reducing the known harms of tobacco and the potential harms of vaping.

- Understanding the research & evidence on the safety of vaping among adults & young people
- Reviewing national prevalence & vaping trends among young people
- Understanding the law on vaping in England
- Current guidance on managing vaping in schools
- Exploring the differences between vaping and smoking
- Raising awareness for the use of illicit substances in vapes
- Understanding nicotine addiction and brief interventions with young people
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy – products, uses and prescribing in a school environment
- Supporting young people to quit smoking
- Access to age-appropriate education resources on smoking and vaping.
